ALUTRINT will have one of the smallest smelters in the western hemisphere.

In April 2005 Government approved the project development of a 125,000 metric tonne per year aluminium complex at Union Industrial Estate.

The complex will also include a rod mill and a wire and cable plant.

Government is 60 per cent owner of ALUTRINT Limited

Ownership is held via the National Energy Company (NEC).

The remaining 40 per cent of ALUTRINT Limited is held by Sural of Venezuela.

Sural specializes in the production of downstream aluminium products and associated technology.

100 per cent of the aluminium produced by ALUTRINT will be used in the local downstream industry including the manufacture of automotive parts.

The plants will permanently employ 800 people during its 20 to 30 year expected life span. Approximately 2,000 "spin-off jobs" will be created.
